BOSTON FAREWELL

After five and a half years I’m relocating from Boston. I’ve accepted a full-time position in Houston, Texas! I have greatly enjoyed my time in Boston, but am excited for the new adventure. I’m taking this opportunity to showcase some of my favorite photographs through Boston.

I’ll be available to work with clients in Houston immediately. Feel free to pass my information to anyone that might be interested!

LAUREL HILL FLORAL DESIGN

It’s so wonderful to see a logo in action! I designed this for Laurel Hill Floral Design just about a year ago and she has certainly come a long way as her new site has just launched!

Laurel Hill Floral Design is  a boutique floral design company based out of owner Laura Chadwell’s home in East Boston, MA. She is a third generation florist who started her training gathering scraps of flowers as they fell from her mother’s arranging table. She specializes in special event floral design, including weddings, showers, and nonprofit events.

I have been lucky enough to work with Laura on numerous occasions including her engagement photos and now with her new business. Have a wedding or an event coming up? You should definitely consider Laurel Hill Floral Design!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS
I captured this photograph after a huge snowstorm in the Arnold Arboretum. It truly was like walking through a winter wonderland! I’m wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and best wishes for a happy healthy new year.

COMMONWEALTH AVE & STORROW DRIVE
I would say that Commonwealth Ave is one of the more beautiful streets in Boston, but as you enter Kenmore Square there is a section for the Storrow Drive overpass that appears to be not so…beautiful. One day my coworker told me to look up and it was actually a very cool view. Check it out!

HOUSTON | ART a la instagram

I can’t go to any city without visiting the art landscape. Houston is full of museums and most of them are FREE! I love taking in art in any way shape or form and Houston is rich for sure.

I stopped by the Houston Center for Photography and stumbled upon the work of Adam Magyar: Kontinuum. It was one of the coolest exhibits I’ve seen in awhile. He captured the essence of cities via public transportation routes. Everytime you looked at one of the photos you noticed something different. His work is described as; “the synergies of people, the cities they inhabit, and the technological support structures created to facilitate urban life. He explores the flow of time and life through multiple photography and video-based series.” The exhibit is down for now, but you can explore past exhibits on the Houston Center for Photorgrphy’s website here: http://www.hcponline.org/pages/home.asp

In that same plaza is The Menil Collection. It’s described to be “cultural oasis unlike anything else in America.  Here an internationally renowned art destination resides in a quiet neighborhood enclave of bungalows and parks.” I didn’t actually research museums before coming and just stumbled upon the Menil Collection due to it’s close proximity to the Houston Center for Photograph. I was more than thrilled after getting there. To be viewing works from Picasso to Warhol all for free in a such a fresh space. WOW! It was really incredible and worth a visit if you are in the area. More information can be found here: http://www.menil.org/

HOUSTON | ROTHKO CHAPEL a la instagram

We also stopped into the Rothko Chapel. It was recommended to me by friends who have been to Houston before. I was also intrigued after I saw some Rothko paintings in the Menil Collection. It’s a great spot for quiet reflection.

The Rothko Chapel was founded by Houston philanthropists John and Dominique de Menil and is utilized as an sanctuary available to people of every belief. The Chapel holds mural canvases by painter Mark Rothko. Outside the sanctuary contains the sculpture,  Broken Obelisk by Barnett Newman.

HOUSTON | MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE a la instagram

I went to visit Houston and decided not to take my good camera with me. I really wanted to travel light, plus I was visiting my sister and her husband and wanted the time to focus on hanging out with them. I also really need to travel alone in order to make the most of a photography excursion.

So, enjoy the next few posts of my Houston adventures via my instagram. We stopped one of the days at the Houston Museum of Natural Science to visit the butterflies. Definitely an amazing exhibit full of so many different types of beautiful butterflies. One even tried to escape away on my purse!

BRITTANY & MATT ARE GETTING MARRIED!

They are a super fun couple that are into dogs, music and all things vintage. I’m so excited to see them tie the knot this week. Congratulations, Brittany & Matt!!

MISS MASSACHUSETTS

This weekend is the Miss Massachusetts Pageant, which features twenty-one contestants all competing to win the title and continue on to the Miss America Competition this summer. This year I had the privilege of providing design pieces for three of the twenty-one contestant; Miss Boston, Morgan Berg, Miss Cambridge, Carrie Sunde and Miss Suffolk County, Victoria DeKoatz.

The crowning occurs Saturday, June 20, 2013. Good luck to all the girls! More information can be found here: http://www.missmass.org/

RESUME DESIGN

A personalized resume is a great way to showcase your individuality and personality when you are job hunting. Interested in having an overhaul on your resume?  See what some of my clients had to say about the resume design process:

“Tracy just re-designed my resume and cover letter and I’m thrilled! The process of filling out my request form was easy and fun, and Tracy asked interesting questions to learn more about my personality so she could reflect that in my resume design.  After I got the first draft, we played around with the colors until the resume and cover letter were just what I was looking for.  I would recommend using Tracy if you’re looking for a fresh take on a traditional resume design.”

“Tracy helped me overhaul my resume when I was looking for something that would stand out while still being professional. Having been a part of the hiring process several times, I noticed that, so many of the resumes we received looked almost visually identical, and when the first impression someone has of you is your resume, I realized how it easy it was for mine to get “lost in the crowd”. The redesign Tracy did was stellar, and I’ve had several promising interviews where I was point-blank told the reason I was even being considered was because my resume was so unique, polished and professional, and even getting my foot in the door has been invaluable and well worth the expense. I can’t recommend Tracy highly enough.”

MISS BOSTON & MISS CAMBRIDGE

Autograph Cards

The Miss Boston & Miss Cambridge Scholarship Organization is a wonderful organization dedicated to providing opportunities for women in the Boston & Cambridge area with scholarships, public speaking opportunities, and to support for Miss America’s official platform: Children’s Miracle Network.

I loved getting to design the autograph cards for this year’s Miss Boston, Morgan Berg and Miss Cambridge, Carrie Sunde. The photographs are beautiful and these girls are up to amazing work.
